Kept to promised timescales - Mark Sivill
Client Requirement:
We are an
IT company providing a service, to end consumers and in
the longer term to business. The service allows somebody
to take a disk from us and insert into their computer
(that is on the internet), then login to get a desktop
(a bit like Microsoft Windows 95, 98, XP). The main
difference is the main processing is done remotely, this
means you don’t need an as powerful (or expensive)
computer to run. This also means that expensive software
does not need to be bought up front. This allows people
to experience computers and internet at a lower cost.
Also maintenance of the computer is done remotely for
example patching, installing software, defragging, etc.
The electric bill should also be cheaper as less
powerful computer uses less electricity. The service
makes the computer like driving a car, you don’t need to
be a mechanic to drive a car.
The name Gridwell come from “grid” and “well”, grid is a
computer buzz term for joining lots of computers
together, well as in oil well, water well, and ink well,
so “grid” + “well” providing a never ending supply of
joined up computing power. We moved from “grids” to the
above offering, but still the idea is computing power on
tap, a bit like a utility company like gas, electric, or
water. So you plug into the service to benefit from it.
Longer term this is the way we see the company growing
by providing the above service and additional services.
Initial market will be people who want a computer with
internet access with a cheaper upfront cost. Also target
market will not be a computer savvy as traditional users
of computers. The market can also be aimed at business
who want to reduce cost of there computer setup. |
